Everything you need to know about how to properly map data between monday and Outlook Calendar - used for creations and syncing.
What is Field Mapping?
Field mapping is how data moves between monday.com and Outlook Calendar—it connects specific fields from one platform to the right fields in the other. This makes sure things like event dates, titles, attendees, and locations sync correctly. Setting up field mapping properly keeps your data accurate, automates your workflow, and ensures everything ends up exactly how you want it.
Can I Map Anything to Anything?
Not quite—but that’s just how the systems work!
Each monday.com column is designed to hold a specific type of data. For example:
Numbers can only store numbers, not text.
Timelines need dates and can’t hold files.
It’s the same with Outlook Calendar:
Dates must be mapped to date fields.
Attendees need valid email addresses.
So, mapping only works when the data types match— therefore we can only support mapping columns that have a matching data type and it makes sense.
