Best Practices & Guidelines

To get the most out of your monday.com-Mailchimp integration, consider these best practices and guidelines when setting up your automations.

When Updating Campaign Statistics

Tracking Campaign Metadata vs. Performance Statistics:
  • For Campaign Metadata (audience, title, subject line, etc.)
  • Use the trigger "when campaign finished sending"
  • This automation is triggered as soon as the campaign finishes sending
  • Useful for tracking metadata, but not performance statistics (as there are no open rates yet)
  • For Performance Statistics (open rates, delivery statistics, etc.):
  • Use the trigger "when status changes" (or any other column change).
  • Set this to trigger after the campaign has had some time to run
  • This allows time for meaningful performance data to accumulate
Tracking Whole Campaign Performance vs. Specific Contact Performance:
  • Whole Campaign Performance: Get overall statistics for the entire campaign
  • Specific Contact Performance: Get statistics for individual contacts
Getting Data in Column Values or as an Update -When setting up your automation, you can choose to:
  • Get the data as an update in < monday.com >
  • Map the data directly into columns in your < monday.com > board
Select the method that best integrates with your existing workflows and reportingstructures.

When Creating a Contact

When an item is created via forms / automations / API -
  • Use triggers like "When item/subitem is created and only if column value is something".
  • The column value is something allows for extra control so not every item will be created.
  • This trigger is used when the item is created with all the necessary information.
  • When an item is created manually -
  • Use triggers like “When column changes”.
  • This allows for more flexibility in when contacts are created in Mailchimp based on  monday.com  data.
Mailchimp contact must have an email -
  • A contact must have a valid email and the email it must be mapped to Mailchimp email column.
  • If you will try to create an contact, without email it will not be created.

By following these best practices and guidelines, you can ensure that your monday.com-Mailchimp integration is set up efficiently and effectively, providing you with the most relevant and timely data for your marketing and project management needs.
