Learn how to automatically copy column values from parent items to new sub-items in monday.com . Using the app, you can instantly copy column values—such as a Connect column, status, or date—from a parent item to a sub-item as soon as the subitem is created. This automation works for most column types, but cannot be used for read-only columns like mirror columns, formula columns, or the "last updated" column. Before creating the automation, make sure that the column type (e.g. Status, Date, Numbers, etc.) that you want to sync exists in both the parent item level and subitem level.
Click in the top right corner of your board.
Click at the top of the automation menu.
Search for .
Select the app.

When configuring the template, start by mapping the parent item first. Click the second placeholder and select the parent item's target column (e.g., a Connect column).
Click the first placeholder and choose the matching column type for the subitem.
Click to save and apply the workflow.
To ensure everything is working correctly, test it with a sample item on your board.
Click the icon in the parent item's designated column to connect an item or set a value.
Create a new sub-item beneath the parent item. The connection value will instantly copy over from the parent item to the new sub-item.
