The app helps you automate actions between in monday.com — so you can save time, stay organized, and keep your boards running smoothly. Even if you’re new to automations, this step-by-step guide will walk you through setting up your in just a few minutes.
To create your first automation, you’ll start right from your monday.com board. Go to the where you want to add an automation.

Make sure you’re on the tab — this is where all available apps and recipes appear:
In the search bar at the top, type .
Under the section, you’ll see :
You can click either one to open it and explore automations.
You’re not choosing an app and then a page — both “Top Automations” and “All Automations” appear separately in your search results as two app features. Simply choose the one you want to open. When you click this feature, you’ll land on the page — a curated list of , based on real user usage.
These are the most common automations people start with, such as:
- “When a subitem is created, copy a value from its parent item.”
- “When all subitems are done, change the parent item’s status.”

Once you find an automation you’d like to use:
Click to start setting it up.
You’ll now see a setup screen where you’ll fill out a few fields to tell the app how to apply this automation on your board.
In this recipe, you’ll be asked to fill in two dropdown fields:
- Choose the that will receive the value.
- Choose the that the value will be copied from.
Once both fields are set, click — and your automation is live!
After saving your automation:
Create or update a subitem to trigger it.
Check the related parent item (or subitem) to confirm the change happened automatically.
If the automation doesn’t work immediately: - Ensure both the parent and subitem columns exist and are the same type (e.g. both are “Status” or “Date”).
- Edit the automation and double-check your selections.
