Automatically connect and sync new items or subitems as soon as they are created.
Intro:
This automation connects newly created items or subitems to matching records on another board, based on your chosen matching columns.
After the connection is made, all columns with the same name and type stay fully synchronized between the two boards — automatically and in real time.
This automation is ideal for workflows where new records (like tasks, clients, or tickets) need to be instantly linked to existing ones and kept continuously up to date.

Description

When item/subitemcreated, connect it to item/subitem fromanother board using this connect columns when this column matches another column and sync ALL future changes where column name and type match.
When an item or subitem’s created, this automation connects it to matching items/subitems on another board based on your matching columns. Once connected, every column with the same name and type stays synced both ways automatically — keeping both boards always aligned.
How to Set It Up
Note:
To set up this recipe, you must first have a Connect Boards column in place.
The Connect column should be created on the entity you wish to connect (item or subitem).
a. Item / Subitem – Choose whether you want to connect an item or subitem from the board where you’re setting the automation.
b. Item / Subitem #2 – Choose whether you want to connect to an item or subitem on the other board.
c. Another board – Select the board whose items or subitems will be connected to this board.
d. Connect column – Choose or create the connect column on this board that links it to the other board.
e. This column – Choose the column from this board whose value will be used to find matching items or subitems on the other board.
f. Another column – Choose the column on the other board that should match the value from “This column.” When the values match, the connection will be created automatically.
Example:
Let’s say you’re connecting your “Projects” board with your “Clients” board.
You choose Item → Item #2 to connect project items to client items.
Under Another board, you select “Clients.”
You pick Connect column = Client Link on your Projects board to store the connection.
For This column, you select “Client ID” from your Projects board.
For Another column, you select “Client ID” from your Clients board.
Now, whenever a project’s Client ID matches a client’s Client ID, the automation automatically connects them — and if sync is enabled, all matching columns (same name and type) will stay aligned in real time.
