This automation connects items or subitems between boards when a specific status is reached (for example, “Done” or “Approved”).
Once connected, all columns with the same name and type remain fully synchronized between both boards in real time.
It’s perfect for workflows where items move through different stages (like “Qualified,” “In Progress,” or “Ready for Handoff”) and need to automatically link and stay aligned with records on another board.

Description

When item/subitemstatus changes to something, connect it to item/subitem on another board using this connect columns when this column matches and sync ALL future changes where column name and type match.
Automatically connects items or subitems to matching ones on another board when a specific status changes. Once connected, all columns with the same name and type stay synced both ways in real time.
How to Set It Up
Note:
To set up this recipe, you must first have a Connect Boards column in place.
The Connect column should be created on the entity you wish to connect (item or subitem).
a. Item/Subitem – Choose whether you want to connect an item or subitem from the board where you’re setting the automation.
b. Status – Select the status column from this board that will trigger the automation when it changes to a specific value.
c. Something – Choose the exact status value that will activate the automation (e.g., “Done,” “Approved,” “Ready for Review”).
d. Item/Subitem #2 – Choose whether you want to connect to an item or subitem on the other board.
e. Another board – Select the board whose items or subitems will be connected to this board.
f. Connect columns – Choose or create the connect column on this board that links it to the other board.
g. This column – Choose the column from this board whose value will be used to find matching items or subitems on the other board.
h. Another column – Choose the column on the other board that should match the value from “This column.” When the values match, the connection will be created automatically.
Example
You’re connecting your “Deals” board to your “Clients” board:
Item/Subitem: Item (Deals board)
Status: Deal Stage
Something: “Won”
Items/Subitems #2: Item (Clients board)
Another board: Clients
Connect columns: Client Link
This column: Client ID (Deals board)
Another column: Client ID (Clients board)
When a deal’s status changes to “Won”, the automation connects that item to its matching client — and from that point on, all matching columns (with the same name and type) stay synced automatically in both boards.
Notes
You can use this automation for item-to-item, item-to-subitem, subitem-to-item, or subitem-to-subitem connections.
